Hmm...

So, unfortunately, Blood Oath may have been canceled. Don't get angry yet, there hasn't been an official announcement of any kind, however, Amazon users who ordered the book have been getting these e-mails:

Also, Elaine Cunningham's livejournal has been deleting, so trying to gather information from there has been a no-go.

Maybe it's canceled, maybe it's just another delay?

I guess we'll have to wait it out and see, folks.

Check this news out here, too.

We now have a look at the official Blood Oath cover, as well as a plot summary.

Directly from Elaine Cunningham's livejournal:

"UPS just delivered a package of cover flats for my upcoming Star Wars book. The design is flat-out gorgeous. Zekk is flat-out gorgeous. The color scheme is NOT PINK, which in and of itself is sufficient for celebration, but I've gotta say, the use of color on this cover is wonderful.

I love this cover. Love it.

Can't post it yet, though. :)"

and also:

"Zekk goes for a more traditional Jedi look."

Dec 3 Update:  According to the Wookieepedia page, Taryn and Trista Zel will make appearances in Blood Oath.

"Blood Oath is a self-contained story, rather than an episode with a larger tale."

-Elaine Cunningham

"We've approved cover concepts for Army of the Dead and Blood Oath- I love Blood Oath as it features Zekk in a very manly pose, looking ruggedly handsome. He's certainly not the boy we once knew."

-Sue Rostoni

"BLOOD OATH is a standalone novel focusing on the adventures (and misadventures) of Zekk, a Jedi Knight best known for his uncertain relationship with Jaina Solo. The story picks up right after the events of INVINCIBLE, the last book in the Legacy of the Force series, when Zekk went missing in action. The search for him uncovers something...else. Something that has been kept hidden for thousands of years.

Also, Zekk gets to take names and kick asteroids. Good times."

- A quote from Elaine Cunningham herself, as posted on the Candlekeep Forums.

"For several months now, I've been mentioning a project that's due October 1. As of today, I finally have the go-ahead to announce what it is: Blood Oath, a standalone Star Wars novel scheduled for April 2009. It has been listed for over a week now on the Randomhouse online catalog and is now listed on Amazon.com. The story takes place after the events of Legacy of the Force, during the early days of the period covered by upcoming series, The Fate of the JEdi. I can't give details about the story, characters, or setting at this point, but I do have a few observations about Star Wars in general...

...Blood Oath is an adventure shadowed by political intrigue, with a bit of humor and maybe a hint of romance. I can't hope to recreate the sense of wonder I found in my first trip to a theater bac in 1978, but I'm keeping that memory firmly in mind as I write."
